Ki Squared Designs
“Lux for us!” That’s our motto at Ki Squared Designs, a woman-owned company in Portland, Maine making fine and affordable leather goods for everyday life. We specialize in transforming scrap and salvage leather into beautiful and useful objects hand-crafted to the highest quality and affordable for everyone.
Ki Squared Designs also makes heat-branded promotional merchandise available in many types and colors of leather and stitching. We source our materials locally whenever possible and proudly support other independent Maine businesses and artists. Drop a line to our priestess of sales, Lori McCartney, to create cool leather merch for your company, organization or special event.
Our original Drinkin’ Buddy leather beverage sleeves are available at a growing number of local shops and bars. Check out our News page for the latest additions and the Maine fairs and festivals where we’ll be selling our stuff this year.

About Kiki
Kiki Garfield grew up in Kingfield, Maine and began making jewelry as a teen. Her passion for leathercraft ignited a few years ago when she found some scraps at the Goodwill warehouse in Gorham and was inspired to hand-sew them into a bag (pictured below). She founded Ki Squared Designs in 2025 to share her original work with the world.
Kiki has decades of experience in Maine’s hospitality industry and contributes photography, design and marketing to The Bollard, an indie magazine about Maine published by her partner, Chris Busby. She works from a home studio atop Munjoy Hill with Chris and two pretty good cats (note the bite marks in the lower right corner of Portland Jedi chef Mark Turner’s testimonial; that’s Tubby!)
